1. Review Anatomy of the posterior regions of the mouth
- Maxilla - Maxillary Sinus, Maxillary Artery, Socket Anatomy
- Mandible - Inferior Alveolar Nerve, Mental Nerve, Anterior Loop, Socket Anatomy
2. Immediate Implant planning - Immediate vs. Delayed implant placement
- Advantageous vs. Disadvantageous
- Bury the implant or not
- Temporization or no temporization
- Guided vs. Free Hand approach
3. Implant Placement
- Socket Anatomy During Placement
- Bone Expansion vs. No-Expansion
- Internal Sinus Lift
- Lateral Window Sinus Lift
- Size of Implant
- Recognize when posterior immediate implant can be placed
- Decide during planning stage whether a Guided Surgery would be necessary or a free hand approach would suffice
- Understand the anatomy and techniques involved to place a posterior immediate
- Understand how to choose the correct implant size based on anatomy
- Understand if any adjunctive procedures are necessary with implant placement - for example, sinus grafting or temporization
