DDS
Dr Michael Koceja graduated from Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1986. He served 8 years in the United States Navy Dental Corp. where he completed a 1-year Periodontal Fellowship and received the Navy Commendation medal for outstanding service. He received his Laser Proficiency certificate with the ALD in 2001 and Mastership in the WCLI in 2003. Dr Koceja has been in private practice since 1994 and has actively incorporated lasers into his practice since 1999. His focus is to incorporate lasers into the “Everyday Practice” of Dentistry and provide a less invasive, high tech standard of care for his patients. He has used many different types of Dental lasers, including Diode, ErYAG, CO2, and ErCrYSGG, which gives him a true understanding of what to look for when incorporating laser technology into the Dental office. Dr Koceja has lectured throughout the world on Dental lasers, trained thousands of doctors and Hygienists and has been actively involved in laser product development and testing of Dental lasers for over 20 years. Description

The use of lasers in dentistry – both all-tissue and soft-tissue lasers – is gaining greater appreciation each year with the increased interest in providing minimally-invasive treatments for patients. In this highly educational lecture and workshop, we will demonstrate how both all tissue and soft tissue lasers are optimally positioned to improve all aspects of today’s modern dental practice.

Restorative:

Photobiomodulation (PBM), also known as low-level light/laser therapy using diodes lasers, will also be discussed as a non-surgical and non-thermal application to alleviate pain or inflammation.

Course Objective

1. Learn the advantages of using lasers on both hard and soft tissues

2. Discuss and understand how erbium-based all-tissue lasers are optimally positioned for use in restorative, soft-tissue and perio applications

3. Understand how erbium-based all-tissue lasers can remove biofilm from an implant’s surface

4. Identify diagnostic techniques to utilize erbium-based all-tissue lasers efficiently in daily practice

5. Examine the rationale and clinical treatment approaches for photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy
