Description

This lecture will provide an overview of current trends in implant dentistry with a focus on the MegaGen Blue Diamond implant system. Dr. Jonathan Blansett will share the clinical reasoning behind his transition to the Blue Diamond system and discuss its role in supporting predictable implant outcomes and accelerated healing timelines, often allowing for restoration within 4‒6 weeks. The course will review common complications observed with other implant systems, including bone loss, inflammation, and restorative contour challenges. Emphasis will be placed on proper restorative protocols, including the use of OEM abutments, appropriate torque values, and the importance of ideal emergence profiles and contours. The lecture will also outline practical clinical and laboratory workflows aimed at improving restorative predictability and helping prevent peri-implant bone loss.

Course Objective

By the end of the course, clinicians will be able to:
• Understand key design features and clinical advantages of the MegaGen Blue Diamond implant system.
• Review clinical considerations for accelerated healing and immediate or early loading protocols.
• Identify common complications associated with implant restorations, including bone loss, inflammation, and restorative contour issues.
• Recognize the importance of restorative-driven implant planning, including emergence profile design and soft tissue support.
• Understand the role of OEM abutments, proper torque values, and component stability in maintaining peri-implant health.
• Improve communication and workflow coordination with dental laboratories to support predictable restorative outcomes.
