Description

Rescue the Atrophic Maxilla is a 4-day advanced live surgery program designed for oral and maxillofacial surgeons, periodontists, and general dentist who are ready to elevate their full-arch surgical capabilities to the highest clinical level.

Held in Sao Paulo, Brazil this program places clinicians directly alongside expert faculty in the operating environment. Participants will progress from foundational anatomy and case planning on Day 1 to hands-on live surgery and real-time mentoring across Days 2 through 4, building both the confidence and the technical precision required to manage even the most challenging atrophic maxillary presentations.

With limited enrollment, this course is built for meaningful, individualized engagement. Each participant gains direct access to world-class faculty, live case exposure, and a comprehensive curriculum covering zygomatic and pterygoid implant protocols, quad zygoma concepts, the 2-Piece Zygoma Extension, and infratemporal fossa rescue approaches.

Course Objective

By the end of the course, clinicians will be able to:
• Develop mastery of advanced surgical protocols for the severely atrophic maxilla, moving beyond standard implant placement into complex full-arch reconstruction.
• Build clinical competency in zygomatic and pterygoid implant surgery, including quad zygoma techniques and the 2-Piece Zygoma Extension system.
• Acquire a structured, evidence-based framework for diagnosing, treatment planning, and executing high-risk maxillary cases with predictable outcomes.
• Gain practical experience through chairside mentoring in live surgical settings, reinforcing technique and decision-making in real patient care scenarios.
• Learn rescue strategies for failed and failing maxillary implant cases utilizing the infratemporal fossa approach.

Upon successful completion of this program, participants will be able to:
• Perform comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning for patients with severely atrophic maxillae, integrating radiographic analysis, anatomical risk assessment, and prosthetic considerations.
• Identify and navigate critical surgical anatomy and risk zones relevant to zygomatic and pterygoid implant placement, including the infratemporal fossa, maxillary sinus, and orbital floor.
• Apply advanced protocols for zygomatic implant placement, including standard, extra-sinus, and intra-sinus approaches, adapting technique selection to patient-specific anatomy.
• Execute pterygoid implant placement with a thorough understanding of angulation, depth, and anatomical landmarks to ensure osseointegration and prosthetic compatibility.
• Implement quad zygoma concepts for fully edentulous patients requiring bilateral zygomatic anchorage, including indications, contraindications, and sequencing.
• Utilize the 2-Piece Zygoma Extension device in clinically appropriate cases, with proficiency in assembly, placement, and angulation correction.
• Develop and execute surgical rescue plans for failed maxillary implant cases using the infratemporal fossa approach and associated techniques.
• Perform model surgery and virtual case planning to rehearse and refine surgical sequences prior to live patient treatment.
