Description

This focused 4-hour course explores the surgical and restorative principles that drive predictability in immediate implant therapy in both the anterior and molar regions.

The course follows the immediate implant workflow from extraction through definitive restoration, with emphasis on proper case selection, three-dimensional implant positioning, primary stability, and site-specific surgical considerations. Participants will learn practical grafting protocols for managing the implant-socket gap, techniques for socket sealing and emergence profile development, and the use of customized healing/socket-sealing abutments.

Anterior and posterior cases will be used to demonstrate how implant position, grafting, and soft-tissue management influence the final restorative outcome. The course concludes by connecting the surgical phase to provisionalization and definitive restoration, providing participants with a systematic and reproducible workflow for achieving predictable immediate implant outcomes.

Course Objective

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify appropriate cases for immediate implant placement in anterior and molar sites and recognize factors that may compromise predictability.
  2. Apply three-dimensional, prosthetically driven implant positioning principles based on site anatomy and the planned definitive restoration.
  3. Understand strategies for achieving primary stability while maintaining appropriate implant depth, angulation, and restorative position.
  4. Select and apply appropriate grafting protocols for the implant-socket gap and understand when additional hard- or soft-tissue augmentation may be indicated.
  5. Utilize socket-sealing/customized abutment techniques to support peri-implant tissues and develop an appropriate emergence profile.
  6. Recognize the key differences in surgical and restorative management between anterior and molar immediate implant sites.
  7. Integrate surgical planning, grafting, tissue management, provisionalization, and definitive restoration into a predictable immediate implant workflow.
  8. Understand how decisions made at the time of extraction and implant placement directly influence the esthetic, biologic, and restorative outcome.
